Sedimentary: Rock Quarry

Acrylic, printed fabric, paper towels, spray paint on panel

This is from a transitionary period when I was still painting fabric covered panels. I had explored ideas of a man made invasive technology on top of a pile of geologically historic sedimentary layers. And how the brief blip of present time can effect and spoil millions and billions of years of history. We are in a way very insignificant but have a hug impact.

I did a series of these and they were very well received. The various strips of printed fabrics depict change over time and imply all sorts of hidden narratives upon which people could project their own stories.

I had more ideas to explore and left this behind. Maybe I could reexamine the layers as parts of a personality and personal history in a tall, vertical form at that resembles the human form with a slightly off center square on top for the head. Could work in expressive hands on the body and partially obscured face in the square.
